Hockey NSW is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Barker as the Head Coach of the NSW Pride Women’s team and the re-appointment of Men’s Head Coach Brent Livermore for the 2023 and 2024 Hockey One League seasons.
After an extensive process in which the State’s governing body received numerous high-quality candidates for both positions, Hockey NSW is excited by the appointment of two highly experienced, skilled, and respected hockey identities.
Scott comes into the role having held various positions at Hockey NSW and overseas including NSW Open Women’s Coach Mentor, NSW Men’s AHL Assistant Coach, Russian Men’s Head Coach and more recently in a full-time role as Director of Hockey at Sydney University Sport and Fitness.
Former Olympian Brent Livermore who guided the NSW Pride Men’s team to Premierships in the first two seasons of the Hockey One competition will continue to stamp himself as one of the countries most esteemed coaches as he chases a third consecutive premiership in 2023. Brent has recently been appointed to a full-time position at Hockey NSW as Director of Hockey having spent the last few years at NSWIS and his new role will complement his coaching duties.
“Hockey NSW is delighted to have two outstanding individuals lead our 2023 Men’s and Women’s Hockey One campaign as we aim to defend both titles. Scott and Brent will bring a high level of technical and tactical expertise to our playing groups and together with their passion to nurture players both on and off the pitch we believe our players will continue to develop and grow under their tutelage,” said Hockey NSW CEO Emma Highwood.
“I would also like to acknowledge Peter Shea for his outstanding contribution to the NSW Pride Women’s program since its inception in 2019 and thank him for his passion, commitment and dedication to hockey in New South Wales.”
The Hockey One League 2023 Season will commence in late October 2023. The full fixture is expected to be announced soon.
