🔥🔥 Welcome to the Adelaide Fire, New Zealand defender CASEY CROWLEY.
New Zealand native, Casey, spent 4 years at the University of Maine in the USA on a hockey scholarship. Casey returned to New Zealand in 2019 where she played for Central in the New Zealand Premier Hockey League. In that same year, Casey was named in the New Zealand Under 21 team, playing in the 3 Nations Tournament in Canberra.
Casey made her debut for the New Zealand Black Sticks in 2022, against the Hockeyroos. She played in the 2022/2023 Pro League Series for the Black Sticks, and most recently in the Nations Cup in Spain.
Casey has been based in Auckland for the past 5 years, playing for ABC Hockey Club and North Harbour Hockey Club.
We look forward to welcoming Casey to Adelaide in the coming weeks and helping bolster our Adelaide Fire Women’s defense this season 🔥

Welcome back to the Adelaide Fire Men’s team, striker HUGH SNOWDEN and goal keeper, JED SNOWDEN.
Two key players who had significant impact on the Fire men’s team last year. Running rampant in the forward line, Hugh hit the back of the net on numerous occasions last season and created a multitude of scoring opportunities for the men’s team. Our very own brick wall, Jed, the master in goals. A huge presence for the Fire defense, coming up against some of the fiercest forwards in the competition.
Both currently based in Victoria, we’re thrilled to have Hugh and Jed returning to Adelaide for the 2024 Hockey One League season.

Please welcome to the Adelaide Fire, Dutch midfielder JULIA van den HEUVEL.
Coming to the Adelaide Fire from THC Hurley in Amsterdam, Julia brings another level of international experience into our women’s midfield this season.
Julia has spent several years playing in the top league in the Netherlands. Julia’s career started at HC Den Bosch, playing from Juniors through to the Women’s First Team, during which time becoming Dutch Champions and European Champions in the same season. Julia moved to SV Kampong when she commenced University, studying Law and Philosophy, before moving over to THC Hurley where she currently still plays. Julia was part of the first THC Hurley team to make the playoffs, securing a top 4 finish, for the first time in its history.
We can’t wait to see Julia showcasing her speed and smooth skills through our Fire midfield this season.

We’re beyond excited to welcome to the Adelaide Fire, three-time Olympian and Dutch champion, MARGOT van GEFFEN.
Margot became a member of the Dutch National Team in 2011. With 265 international caps, Margot is number three in the Dutch all-time rankings for international matches played.
Margot’s extraordinary list of accolades include three-time Olympian with gold medals in London 2012 and Tokyo 2020, plus a silver medal in Rio 2016. Three-time World Cup gold medallist (2014, 2018 and 2022). Five-time European Champions (2011, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023) plus silver medal in 2015 and bronze in 2013. Champions Trophy gold medal in 2018, plus bronze medals in 2012 and 2014.
Margot was invested as a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau, after the 2012 Olympics. She is also recognised as a Member of Merit of the Dutch Hockey Federation in 2021.
A true champion to join the Adelaide Fire Women this season, and a big challenge for any opposition coming up against Margot this season. Let’s just say, we’re so glad Margot’s on our side…!

With the Hockey One Season approaching, and player signings being announced, the Adelaide Fire are seeking assistance from the hockey community to support our international and interstate players.
🔥 ACCOMMODATION –
Accommodation for both male and female players is required from mid-August until late November. Those able to accommodate players during this time will be remunerated for their support.
🔥 TRANSPORT –
The loan of any vehicles from mid-August until late November would also be appreciated. This will assist players with travelling to training sessions during their time in Adelaide.
🔥 EMPLOYMENT –
Any potential casual or part time employment opportunities, in any field of employment, mid-August until late November is also welcomed.

The Adelaide Fire are excited to announce our first key player signing, for Season 4 of the Hockey One League.
Joining the Adelaide Fire is English International, SHONA McCALLIN MBE. A power midfielder with 122 international caps for England and Great Britain. Shona is a two-time Olympian. She was selected for the Rio 2016 Olympic squad and helped them to win the gold medal. Shona was also selected for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, taking home a bronze medal. Shona made her 50th international appearance at the Rio Olympics, and her 100th international appearance at the Tokyo Olympics. Shona was part of the England team that won their first ever Commonwealth gold medal in Birmingham in 2022, adding to her European and Olympic titles.
Shona’s accolades also include a gold medal in 2015 and bronze in 2017, at the European Championships. Shona received a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2017, presented to her by Prince Charles (now King Charles), rewarded for her efforts as part of the Great Britain gold medal winning team at the Rio Olympics.
Shona will join the Adelaide Fire women’s team, bringing a wealth of international experience and a significant presence to the midfield.
