Hockey One League Board Announcement

The Hockey One League has announced that General Manager Andy Crook will be finishing at the completion of his contract.

Crook was appointed by the Hockey One League Board as the League’s General Manager in February 2022 after spending five years as Chief Operating Officer for the National Basketball League (NBL).

During his time at the helm, Crook was instrumental in re-launching the Hockey One League after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, strengthening its broadcast, media and communications product.

Crook’s experience and leadership was instrumental to delivering an exciting second season of the League, that achieved:

  • 32% growth in ticket revenue
  • 50% growth in match day attendance figures
  • 248% growth in broadcast figures
  • 91 days of mainstream media coverage
  • 105,000 additional content views on social media platforms

“Andy has been an integral part of, not just successfully re-launching the Hockey One League, but delivering it in a way that really engaged with avid fans and raised the profile of its athletes, coaches and officials,” said Hockey One League Chair Carolyn Campbell.

“Who could forget the excitement of opening night, where over 66,000 people either tuned in or attended the double header between HC Melbourne and NSW Pride.”

“There was such a buzz about the League again and plans are already well advanced to take it further with a fixture announcement and a more accessible broadcast deal imminent.”

Crook will finish up on 14 April 2023. The Hockey One League Board will commence the recruitment process shortly.
