A star-studded squad of 20 has been selected for the women’s Perth Thundersticks ahead of their 2022 Sultana Bran Hockey One League season which commences October 1.
The group, which can be tweaked in the final weeks of preparation in the lead-up to the competition, includes some of Australia’s highest-profile Olympic and Commonwealth Games stars as well as high-quality, proven performers at state and Premier League level.
Some of the stars named in the 2022 Perth Thundersticks women’s squad include Australian representatives Aleisha Power, Karri Somerville, Penny Squibb, Shanea Tonkin and Georgia Wilson.
Perth Thundersticks women’s coach Phil Hulbert is impressed by the depth of the group and acknowledged some challenging decisions that had to be made.
“Selections were very difficult for the final 20 and the strength of a squad can often be measured by who misses out,” Hulbert says,
“We believe we have a very competitive group. We are looking forward to continuing to train hard and hopefully enjoying a successful Hockey One season.”

The Thundersticks’ campaign opens on Saturday October 1, with Perth’s first home match against Adelaide Fire.
