Mark Hager

Australian hockey great and highly credentialed international coach, MARK HAGER, joined the Adelaide Fire as the Men’s Assistant Coach for Season 3.

Hager’s own playing career included two Olympic appearances for the Kookaburras, including one as Captain at the 1996 Olympic in Atlanta, where the Kookaburras secured the bronze medal.

Following an illustrious playing career, Hager has forged a highly successful coaching career since the early 2000’s. Hager recently returned to Australia after spending 13 years overseas. During this time, he coached the Great Britain’s Women’s Team to a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and coached the New Zealand Women’s Team at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Hager is the current Hockey Australia National Athlete Pathway Program (NAPP) Technical Lead – Women, and recently spent time in Adelaide during the Hockeyroos v India Series to mentor as part of the Hockey Australia Mini Camp Series.

Mark Hager’s proven world class coaching history for developing Australian hockey talent brings an exciting element and dynamic to the Adelaide Fire squad. His international experience and hockey knowledge is second to none. The Adelaide Fire is beyond excited to have Mark on board, and we look forward to seeing the impact Hager will bring to the Adelaide Fire this season.

Mark Hager continues to work closely with Head Coach, Roel van Maastrigt, on the Adelaide Fire Men’s squad. We look forward to announcing key player signings in the coming weeks.
