NSW Pride all fired up to take on Adelaide

This Saturday marks NSW Pride’s last home match of the season and provides a chance for NSW fans to get behind the team and send them off into the 2023 JDH Hockey One final series next weekend in style. This double header will also be the last chance for NSW fans to watch our Kookaburra and Hockeyroos players in action before the 2024 Paris Olympics.

With places in the final series secured for both Prides men and women’s teams, there is still the One Hockey Cup to play for, with this Saturdays matches against Adelaide Fire the last chance for NSW Pride to claim the cup. Currently NSW Pride are on the top of the table, with a state of origin battle on our hands with Brisbane Blaze hot on Pride’s tail. Wins this weekend for NSW Pride men and women’s teams will help Pride’s chances of winning the One Hockey Cup.

In exciting news three NSW Pride women’s players, Grace Young, Alana Kavanagh, Makayla Jones have all been selected to represent the Jillaroos in the upcoming FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup on Chile, from November 29 – December 10, resulting in Grace, Alana and Makayla no longer available for the remainder of the 2023 JHD Hockey One League season.

These Jillaroos selections however have created an opportunity for some of the NSW Pride squad members to make their debuts with Newcastle’s 18 year old Ellie Baldwin, Miri Maroney (Sutherland shire), Meike Van Haeringen (Sydney Uni) and 19 year old Ella Carr from Central Coast are all set to make their debut this weekend.

NSW Prides men’s team also welcome the inclusion of two debutants in Goalkeeper Nathan Ackroyd from Illawarra South Coast and 21 year old Michael Taylor from the Central Coast. The men’s match is also set to be a real battle of the brothers with NSW born Blake and Kieran Govers due to face off in their first Hockey one league match against each other.
