Only two men’s sides in the ONE Active Hockey One League are still perfect after three rounds, and they meet in Canberra on Friday night. The Chill edged the Tigers 4-3 in Hobart, while back-to-back champions HC Melbourne scored six goals in the last ten minutes to win the first Melbourne derby 8-5. The women’s sides meet the same night level on six points, one win behind the Perth Thundersticks, the last unbeaten women’s team. Perth’s women host the third-placed Cobras on Sunday, led by Courtney Schonell, whose five goals are the most in the women’s competition. Blake Govers has now scored in all three of NSW Pride’s games, and his 45th Hockey One goal extended his record even as Perth handed the Pride men their first loss. He goes for four from four in Adelaide on Saturday night.

The women’s sides are level on six points too: Canberra bounced back from their first loss with a 4-2 win in Hobart, Valentina Costa Biondi converting two penalty corners, and HC Melbourne won the women’s derby 2-1 through Mihaylia Howell’s goal and conversion.

State Hockey Centre, Adelaide
Govers has scored in every game this season, three penalty corners for three goals, and has 45 in Hockey One. Another in Adelaide makes it four from four. The Pride men will want to bounce back after Daykin Stanger’s double helped Perth to a 3-1 win in Sydney, ending their unbeaten start. Adelaide’s men are still searching for a first win, but Freddy Waters gave them an early lead in Brisbane last week and they’ll be desperate to turn that into more at home. The women’s sides met for bronze last season, with the Pride winning 3-2. The Pride arrive after a narrow 3-2 loss to Perth, with Abby Wilson and Kendelle Tait scoring, and Adelaide’s women are still chasing their first win after a 3-0 loss in Brisbane.
