Officially launched on 13 November by Whoopi Goldberg, AWSN is the first global media channel exclusively dedicated to showcasing women’s sport. The channel’s official launch coincides with the Liberty Hockey One League’s Finals Series which will see arguably the strongest hockey women’s competition compete for the title across the weekend of Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December in Hobart, Tasmania.

The Finals will showcase a collision between Australia’s best, with in-form Hockeyroos Kaitlin Nobbs, Maddison Brooks and Courtney Schonell up against some of the world’s strongest international signings including Dutch superstar Eva Drummond and Gitte Michels and the Great Britain trio of Holly Hunt, Fiona Crackles and Sarah Robertson.

Hockey One League Executive Manager, Sash Herceg said the League is incredibly proud international audiences are getting the opportunity to see the best Australian and international women play in the Hockey One League for the next three seasons.

“The women’s competition has easily been one of the best hockey tournaments on the planet this year and it’s fantastic it has been enjoyed internationally through Whoopi Goldberg’s groundbreaking new channel AWSN.

“The League continues to go from strength to strength each year and this deal is an extension of the League’s continual growth. I look forward to seeing the best team lift the 2024 trophy while being broadcast to households all over the world and in the years to come.”

Whoopi Goldberg, Founder of AWSN, said. “The world is finally recognising the incredible female athletes who have always been here but were not given the exposure they deserved. Bringing these athletes, teams, and leagues to over 2 billion people is historical. AWSN is a channel where girls and women can see themselves, where aspiration is transformed into performance, and competitiveness is celebrated. Because ‘When She Wins, We Win’.”
