Former India Olympian, Rupinder Pal Singh Signs With The Canberra Chill

The Canberra Chill are delighted to announce the signing of the former Indian international, dual Olympian and Commonwealth Games representative, Rupinder Pal Singh has signed with the Canberra Chill for the 2023 Hockey One season.

Rupinder Pal Singh will arrive in Canberra, bringing over 220 international appearances and 119 international goals for India. Singh was part of the India’s hockey team at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games, the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games and was first named vice captain of India at the 2014 Hockey World Cup.

Over his impressive hockey career, Singh has accumulated over 700,000 social media followers across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

There is hope that Rupinder Pal Singh will not only help the Canberra Chill with on field performance but will also attract new audiences to Australia’s highest domestic league, Hockey One.

Hockey ACT (Canberra Chill’s parent association) CEO, Rob Sheekey believes the signing of Singh to be an important milestone in the Hockey One league’s adolescence.

“The Canberra Chill acquiring someone of Rupinder’s resume and calibre opens not only a door for new audiences, but a potential pathway for other high quality international names to play in the Hockey One league in the future,” Sheekey said.

“On behalf of the Canberra Chill, I would like to welcome Rupinder, with him in our team, our fans can certainly dream about us doing something special this season.”
