Everything you need to know ahead of the Perth Thundersticks’ Round 1 clash v Canberra Chill

The 2023 Perth Thundersticks Hockey One season is finally here! WA’s elite men and women are set to open their season on Saturday 7 October against the Canberra Chill at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of our first home double-header of the 2023 JDH Hockey One League season.

 

Where are the Perth Thundersticks’ home matches being played? 

All home Perth Thundersticks matches are played at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.

 

When are the Perth Thundersticks home matches and when do gates open? 

Double-headers featuring both male and female matches are being played on the following dates.

  • Saturday 7 October v Canberra Chill, commencing at 3.30pm*
  • Sunday 29 October v Hockey Club Melbourne, commencing at 1.30pm
  • Sunday 12 November v NSW Pride, commencing at 1.30pm

Gates open one hour before push back of the first match, with the second match commencing 1.5 hours after the first (i.e. the second match on Saturday 7 October commences at 5.00pm). Matches are run in three-hour windows.

*The first Perth Thundersticks match against the Canberra Chill will see gates open two hours prior to push back due to the Hockey Australia Men’s Masters Championships.

 

What is the cost of entry and how do I purchase tickets? How do I enter? Can I get a pass out? 

Tickets for the Perth Thundersticks home matches are available to purchase through INTIX – either pre-sold (and cheaper) or at the gate.

All ticket sales, including on gameday will be cashless. There will be no cash option available at the gate.

*Please note – Diamond Reserved Seating tickets CANNOT be purchased at the gate and must be purchased via the INTIX website.
Please ensure you purchase your single-game Reserved Seating ticket prior to venue arrival as only Thunder Hill GA tickets will be available to purchase at the gate.

Entrance is via the main gate on the western side of the stadium, between PHS-1 and PHS-2.

Pass outs will be available for those wishing to exit and re-enter the stadium, however, please consult security before leaving to obtain the relevant requirements.

I have access to the Perth Thundersticks matches as a player at the Hockey Australia Masters Championships – can I seat in reserved seating? 

No. A reserved seating ticket must be purchased prior to the match to secure a seat. Hockey Australia Masters Championships players will only be provided with entry for general admission to the Thunder Hill.

Masters players will need to be wearing their State Team polo shirts AND wristbands in order to get free entry. Masters wristbands are only eligible for free entry when worn with State polo shirts.

Masters spectators & supporters will need to buy a ticket to watch the Hockey One games.

Will I be able to sit in the Upper Grandstand? 

No. Seating in the Upper Grandstand is reserved for VIPs ticket holders and Hockey One Teams only.

 

How do I access my membership?

  1. Login to your INTIX account – please use the original email address used upon purchasing the membership
  1. Find your season tickets and swipe left/right to view any additional memberships purchased

 

I’m a member – when do I receive my membership pack? 

Membership packs are available for collection inside the main entrance – entrance is via the main gate on the western side of the stadium, between PHS-1 and PHS-2.

 

What restrictions are there regarding what I can bring into the stadium? 

There are some understandable restrictions around what can and can’t be brought into Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.

  • No dogs
  • No smoking or vaping
  • No BYO alcohol
  • No skateboards, bikes, scooters or similar.

 

Bag checking will be in operation. Please allow extra time for potential queues at busy times if you intend to bring bags.

Anyone caught attempting to bring their own alcohol into the venue may be refused entry or will be required to leave the venue immediately.

 

Car parking – is there any available? 

Parking is plentiful around the stadium; however, it is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is run by Curtin University and is free on weekends. Park in allocated bays only – Curtin University will issue penalty notices for vehicles parked illegally such as on kerbs or across entrances and access points. The first four rows of parking nearest the Stadium are reserved for VIPs and the small Hockey WA staff car park is strictly for Hockey WA staff only and will be in constant use.

 

Will official Perth Thundersticks merchandise be available to purchase at the game? 

Yes! A range of exclusive Perth Thundersticks supporter clothing items will be available for purchase on game days at the Republic of Hockey container shop adjacent to the main entrance. Stock is strictly limited.

 

Is there an alcohol-free zone at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University? 

The southern end of Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University is alcohol-free.
I can’t make it to the game – can I watch online or on TV? 

The entire JDH Hockey One League season will be live-streamed/broadcast – live and free – through 7Plus.
