Experienced and respected sports administrator Carolyn Campbell is the newly appointed Chair of the Sultana Bran Hockey One League.
Campbell takes up the position following the vacancy left by inaugural Hockey One League Chair Colin Richardson.
Richardson, whose term officially concluded on 11 July 2022, was one of Hockey Australia’s two nominated Directors to the Hockey One League Board but stepped down from the HA Board in November 2021.
Currently the Chief Executive Officer of Scouts NSW, Chair of Sport NSW and a Director of Volleyball Australia, Campbell has had a long-time affiliation and passion for hockey.
She has been on the Hockey One League Board since the league’s inception and will now hold the top position of overseeing and providing guidance on the growth and success of Australia’s best national hockey competition that has only had one season due to COVID.
Sandra Sully replaces Richardson as the HA appointed Director on the Hockey One League Board.
Gavin Hunt, current General Manager – Business for the ACT Brumbies Rugby Union franchise has also come onto the Board in place of Founding Director Alex El-Shamy has stepped aside.
Campbell said she is excited to assume the role and acknowledged Richardson and El-Shamy’s contribution in the foundational stages of the league and the challenges that followed with the pandemic.
“We thank Colin and Alex for their expertise, time and energy they have invested into the league to ensure its financial viability and their forward vison of what Hockey One can become on the national sporting front,” said Campbell.
“Their impact was crucial in the Hockey One League navigating through the challenging COVID period over the past two years and they leave it in a strong position to succeed.”

The Sultana Bran Hockey One League Board comprises Carolyn Campbell, Sandra Sully, Gavin Hunt, Martin Kelly and Adam Clifford.
