Combatants locked in for Sultana Bran Hockey One League Finals Main Event

All eyes will be on Bendigo this weekend as the Sultana Bran Hockey One League 2022 Season reaches its climax with a tantalising Finals Main Event across two action packed days on 19-20 November.

Following an enthralling 7-round regular season, the top four Women’s and Men’s teams on the ladder will converge on the Victorian city to determine the Women’s and Men’s Hockey One League 2022 Champions.

The Finals Main Event in Bendigo, which will comprise a host of current Kookaburras and Hockeyroos players, begins with the Semi Finals on Saturday.

This will be followed by the 3rd v 4th playoffs and the Grand Finals on Sunday in what will be a feast of world class hockey.

The Women’s Semi Finals feature HC Melbourne (1st) against Brisbane Blaze (4th) in a repeat of the inaugural Women’s Grand Final.

The other Women’s Semi Final sees NSW Pride (2nd) take on the Perth Thundersticks (3rd).

In the Men’s Semi Finals, it’s Brisbane Blaze (1st) against NSW Pride (4th) in a mouth watering encounter between the two teams who battled it out in the inaugural Men’s Grand Final in 2019.

Then in the last of the Saturday Semi Finals, Canberra Chill (2nd) and the Perth Thundersticks (3rd) will go toe to toe.

The winners of the Semi Finals will progress to the Grand Finals on Sunday, with the losers to play off for 3rd and 4th position earlier in the day.

Sultana Bran Hockey One League General Manager Andy Crook said Bendigo and the Central Victoria region were in for a real treat.

“Already this season the Hockey One League has captivated audiences and broken attendance and broadcast records,” said Crook.

“The hockey on display has been world class and we cannot wait to bring the best teams of this season to Bendigo to vie for the tag of being crowned Hockey One League 2022 Champions.”

“This is an exciting and rare occasion for everyone in the Bendigo region to witness world class hockey live on their doorstep.

“As we have seen across the regular season, there has been a fantastic atmosphere and vibe at venues and I would encourage everyone to get to the Bendigo Regional Hockey Complex to witness the season finale. You will not go home disappointed.”
