Hugh Purvis

HUGH PURVIS will shift alignment in the coaching reigns and take the lead coaching role for the Women’s team in Season 3.

As Assistant Coach with the Hockeyroos, Hugh worked closely with Katrina Powell and the team at the 2022 World Cup in Spain and the Netherlands. His role continued this year again as Assistant Coach to the Hockeyroos in the recent Test Series against India, in Adelaide. Hugh also took the reigns as the Head Coach for Australia A in their two matches in Adelaide against India, in leading the Australian players vying for future Hockeyroos selection.

In addition to assisting the Hockeyroos, Hugh also brings considerable international experience and knowledge to the coaching team through his time with the Canadian Men’s Program and the AHL Women’s Team.

Amongst his international commitments, Hugh continues to be the Hockey Head Coach for the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI), working closely with the key SA hockey talent. Hugh also coached the SA Under 21 Women’s team at the National Championships this year, seeing great improvement from the SA team.
